Pergola Cost & Pricing

What’s a Pergola?

(also known as an Arbor or Gazebo)

A Pergola is a garden structure that forms either a promenade (walkway) or a sitting area. It’s constructed with vertical posts that support rafters, cross beams or open lattice. The word derives from the Latin “Pergula” which means projecting eave.

They are designed to connect the garden to the home. Pergolas can be used as a structure to train climbing plants to cover, providing filtered shade. It can also be enclosed with a roof to offer protection from the weather.

Freestanding pergolas are often called gazebos.

Pergola Cost & Price Considerations

Many factors affect the price of constructing a pergola. Some pergola cost considerations include:

1. The size and shape of the pergola – What’s the total roof area? Is it a stand alone gazebo or a walkway structure?

2. Materials and Style – What materials are to be used in the construction? Steel vs timber posts, lattice or trellis, roof or no roof, rafters or cross beams. And, what is the height required?

3. Flooring material – Are you wanting concrete, wood, gravel, grass or something else?

4. Stand alone or attached –  Will the pergola be attached to the home or completely standing alone?

5. Site accessibility – Is there easy access to get the materials and equipment to the area?

6. Local council regulations and fees
